Thunder and Lightening
ENGINE
1. No C.D.I limit.
2. Stock flat top pistons (may be forged).
3. Stock crank shaft.
4. No knifing, cutting or lightening. Casting numbers must be visible. Steel rods only.
5. Engine may be set back no further than #1 plug and must align with upper ball joint, 1-1/2"
tolerance.
6. Camshaft-Hydraulic or Flat tappet. Roller rockers permitted.
7. No magnetos.
8. 850 c.f.m. Maximum carburetor.
9. Aluminum or cast iron intake.
10. No rear mounted radiators.
11. Headers-Collector type only. 180 degree headers O.K.
12. Automatic transmission must have stock torque converter. Manual transmission must have
steel flywheel, pressure plate and clutch disc. Racing Clutches permitted. All cars must idle in gear.
13. No Nitrous Oxide Or Alcohol Allowed.
BODY
1. American made cars only. Wheel base 101 inches minimum. 1 inch tolerance.
2. Must keep stock appearance. Fender may be cut for tire clearance.
3. Boxing in of driver permitted.
4. All glass must be removed. Doors must be welded or bolted shut.
5. Spoiler-No more than 6 inches above deck lid.
6. Stock appearing after market bodies are O.K. Must run nose piece and rear covered to top of
bumper.
7. Bumpers must be bolted on, not welded. No bracing of bumpers allowed. May put loop bar on
front, behind grill for protection of radiator.
8. Rails must be stock only, uni-body frames may be connected.
9. Hood must close in stock position.
10. Racing shocks permitted, one per wheel only. Jack Bolts O.K.
11. Stock type automotive rear-end and axles, locked. No Quick Changes or Bird Cage Type
Suspension.
12. Drive shaft must have two (2) loops.
13. TIRES-Any 12 inch. Racing tires O.K.
14. WHEELS-Steel or Aluminum. 14 inch maximum.
15. Stock front and rear disc brakes. Neal pedals O.K Jack Bolts O.K.
16. Weight: Up to 362 CID must weigh 2,800 pounds with the driver. Over 362 CID must weigh
3,000 pounds with the driver. Over 362 CID with After market Bodies, must weigh 3,200 lbs. with
the driver at any time.
