DISCLAIMER
The rules and or regulations set forth herein are designed to provide for the orderly conduct of racing events, to establish
minimum acceptable requirements for such events. These rules shall govern the condition of all events, and by participating in
these events. No express or implied warranty of safety shall result from publication of or compliance with these rules or
regulations. They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to a
participant, spectator, or official.
Shelby County Speedway General Rules
1. Anything not specified in the rules must be stock, in original position, from original manufacturer.
2. All drivers, car owners, mechanics, and anyone else must sign a release and purchase a Pit Pass before entering the
Pits. "NO PERSON, AT ANY TIME" will be allowed in the pits without a Pit Pass.
3. Any Driver, Car Owner, Mechanic or Crew Member who encourages or takes part in adverse demonstrations or fighting
on the track or surrounding premises before, during or after a racing event will be subject to a fine, immediate suspension,
and loss of prize money.
4. Any driver, car owner, mechanic or crew member who shall commit assault or threaten to do bodily harm to any
speedway official or person under their orders shall be barred from competition at Shelby County Speedway and/or
subject to prosecution.
5. Open drinking of intoxicants in the pit area or on track property by any driver, car owner mechanic or crew member will
not be tolerated. Offenders will be subject to immediate ejection from the premises. Drivers may face long term suspension.
6. The driver alone will be held responsible for the conduct of their crew members.
7. The driver alone shall be the sole spokesman for their car owner in any matters pertaining to the race and must talk to
the officials in charge.
8. Any driver, car owner, mechanic or crew member who climbs the flag stand or enters the tower without being
instructed to do so will be fined $100.00.
9. Any unnecessary roughness on the track will cause the race to be stopped and the person or persons involved will be
sent to the pits.
10. Un-sportsman like conduct, either on the track, in the pit area or any other place on Shelby County Speedway property
will result in a fine and/or the person or persons being barred from further competition at Shelby County Speedway.
11. If a driver is disqualified during any racing event:
a. Take your car to the pit and load it up.
b. No other driver will be allowed to drive your car.
c. If a driver is disqualified and he also races in another class, he is also disqualified from driving in any other class.
d. Un-sportsman like conduct will be just cause for being barred from Shelby County Speedway.
12. Misconduct/Unsportsman like conduct leading to a person or persons to be barred from Shelby County Speedway:
a. The severity of your conduct shall determine the length of your suspension.
b. Any person being barred will not be permitted in the pit area during their suspension.
c. Whatever "Car" the person or persons being barred are affiliated with will be banned from Shelby County Speedway for
two (2) racing events, unless the suspension has been lifted, before another person can drive the car in a racing event.
13. Only vehicles with race cars attached, and vehicles designated by Speedway Officials will be permitted through the pit
gate. NO OTHERS WILL BE ALLOWED. No vehicles in the pit or infield area will be covered by insurance.
14. New cars or first time competitors are eligible to run one (1) race without meeting track rules. The cars may be
assessed extra weight. This will be the discretion of the track officials.
15. Technical Protest must be made in writing to the Pit Steward within ten (10) minutes following the completion of a
racing event. Only the Driver in said event may file a protest. Any car protested must be ready for inspection within twenty
(20) minutes from the time the protest is filed or the car will be disqualified. Failure or refusing to tear down will result in
disqualification and forfeiture of all prize money, and the Car will be banned from SHELBY COUNTY SPEEDWAY for two
(2) racing programs. (See Engine Buy-out Rule)
16. All Visual Protests must be made in writing to Pit Steward within ten (10) minutes prior to the start of the Division's Main
Event.
17. SHELBY COUNTY SPEEDWAY reserves the right to reject any protest. NO SPITE PROTESTS.
18. The Driver and one (1) Crew Member will be responsible for Protested Car to be torn down, and a Speedway Official will
make the inspection. The Protesting Driver "ONLY" will be permitted to watch the tear down. There will be NO arguing by
any person involved. If any party taunts or acts in an Un-sportsman like manner towards the other party, the Protest
Money Will Be Awarded To The Other Party. (See Engine Buy-out Rule)
19. All cars must be numbered on each side and top. Top number must be turned to read from the right side of the car.
Numbers must be at least 18 inches high. Speedway Officials reserve the right to change race car number to avoid
duplication.
20. All Cars must be self starting.
21. Racing Gas Permitted. NO NITROUS OXIDE OR ALCOHOL ALLOWED.
22. No Mirrors allowed in any division.
23. SHELBY COUNTY SPEEDWAY reserves the right to change or amend rules in the interest of competition.
24. SHELBY COUNTY SPEEDWAY reserves the right to buy any engine at any time, regardless of where participant has
finished. We reserve this right if we feel the competitor has invested excessively in his engine. These classes are
designed to keep costs down.
25. Pay-outs are subject to change at any time based on car count, attendance, and any other means that management
deems necessary.
26. Any situation not specifically covered by the Rule Book will be acted upon by SHELBY COUNTY SPEEDWAY
OFFICIALS and THEIR DECISION WILL BE FINAL.
27. A car not meeting class specifications, may be allowed to run if he/she adds weight to his/her car. The track official
will determine the amount and location. This will be a temporary condition to allow owner time to meet specifications.
28. Any situation not specifically covered by the Rule Book will be acted upon by SHELBY COUNTY SPEEDWAY
OFFICIALS and THEIR DECISION WILL BE FINAL.
